DJ/Owner Dwight Carpenter
Dwight Carpenter owner and operator of L K E Production DJ & Karaoke has always had a passion for music and fun at an early age. Growing up in Indiana back in the 70's I was exposed to several types of music such as Rock & Roll, Country, and R & B. With artist like KISS, AC/DC with those hard-hitting guitars or Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton singing good old love songs or the Commadores and The Jackson 5 grooving to the funk I knew I had to be a part of the music scene.
By the age of 10 we moved to California and that's when the music really changed. With the introduction of Pop and Hip Hop/Rap music took off to new heights. Around the age of 14 I met a local DJ that played at a night club twice a week. I was so impressed with how he was able to mix certain songs and different genres of music together that I asked him if he could show me how to mix and scratch on his Technique 1200 turntables, the best in the industry. He agreed for a small fee, and I was on my way to spinning. Unfortunately, I had to leave California and returned to Indiana.
Not long after I graduated from high school, I joined the Army to pay my dues and serve my country. My military career was brief but exciting. Being stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen Texas. After spending 6 months in Iraq during Desert Storm I returned to Fort Hood with a new outlook on life. Once back a Staff Sergeant from Chicago joined our unit and to my surprise, he was a DJ. He brought all of equipment with him and he took me under his wing to help me further my dreams of becoming a top rate DJ.
In June of 1992 I finished my Military career and headed to the Dallas/Fort Worth area with my new skills and family. After a few years in DFW I started working on building my DJ company. To be the best I needed to learn all I could about music, so I attended TCC with a major in Arts and minor in Music. After college I needed DJ equipment and back then a new rig (DJ setup) cost about $2000. So here I go working 2 jobs day and night to achieve my goals. At last, I got the equipment I needed and now it was game time.
My first wedding reception took place in October of 1995 in Arlington Texas to a young couple from Louisiana. I was so nervous and sweeting bullets I thought I was not going to make it but as soon as I introduced the brand-new couple the fear went away and has never returned. I continued to do every event I could and in 1998 I was able to go full time thus the birth of L K E Production DJ & Karaoke was born! And as they say the rest is history.
